Fashionista

Syndey picked out her clothes today:

Blue shirt with a chick on the front
Fuschia Pink shorts
Tan tights with polka dots
Red shiny sequin shoes

Yes, she wore that. And she was very proud. Who are we to take that away from her!  Oh and later that night she wanted three braids in her hair.  So creative!

That's not an option.

Sydney: Mommy please stay in my room when I go to bed.

Mommy: No, you know I never do. Good night, love bug.

Sydney: Mommy, you have two options. (I try to talk) Sh Mommy, I'm talking. You have two options: 1, you stay in here with me. 2, I get up and go with you.

Mommy: No, option 3 is you stay in bed and I'm leaving.

Sydney: That's not an option.

Sigh... That was a fun night!

Picture Day!

Sydney decided she wanted to wear a summer dress despite the fact that it has been raining for two days now. And she picked out her new sandals to go with it. I let her and packed some warmer clothes for her to change in to. Everything would have been perfect had I not gotten the date wrong. Tomorrow is picture day! Hopefully they will be able to take pictures today so I don't have to send her to school in a summer dress two rainy days in a row! This entry is purely meant to capture the craziness of parenthood.

A Little Bit About Sydney

A Few Of Sydney's Funny Phrases

"You're crazying me out." I tried to tell her "crazying" is not a word but she insists it is. I'm wondering if she's trying to say "you're freaking me out." Not sure, but she says it when that would be appropriate.

"Here's my deal," or "Here's my plan," followed by a detailed deal or plan. This is on of Sydney's favorite things to do - Make deals and plan things out. We entertain it to a point.

Sydney's Favorites

A recent favorite movie is Aladdin. Thank goodness say Mommy and Daddy! Finally a new one! We welcome any new princess movies into our home. Sydney's other favorite is Tangled. She asks me almost daily when it will be out "on DVD player". She loves to listen to all the princess songs in the car on the way to school or sing them while playing with her toys. She's quite good at remembering the words to a lot of the songs.

Sydney loves "doing my artwork" as she calls it. This means cutting paper, gluing it to more paper and drawing all over it. She loves to "study like Mommy" which means practicing writing her letters.

Her favorite colors are pink and purple. But sometimes her favorite colors are "all the colors". She basically loves color!

Favorite foods would have to be... anything chocolate. She is not the most adventursome eater but she's getting there and will try bites of new foods -- usually only to spit it out but sometimes she surprises us and likes it!

Dress up is a very favorite pasttime. Grandma Harding has made so many princess dresses for Sydney and she loves wearing all of them! She also likes to pretend to dress up for a wedding.

Happily Ever After?

I read Sydney "Are You My Mother?" tonight. At the end when the mother and baby bird united I finished the story with "and they lived happily ever after". Sydney sat up, put a hand on her hip and said "Mommy. Do birds live happily ever after? I mean do they have weddings and big dresses and live happily ever after?". Uh... I then explained more than she wanted but ended with a compelling yes.  We've been watching a lot of wedding shows lately, can you tell?

Are you awake?!

This morning I tried to get Sydney out of bed for about 15 minutes.  While in my room getting ready I kept calling to her to wake up.  Finally, hearing no response, I asked her, "Are you awake?  Yes or no?".  This was her response:  "No!".  I felt for a second that I had a teenager, not a 3-1/2 year old, in the other room.

Sydney's thoughts...

Sydney and I were snuggling this morning and she looked really sad.  I asked her what she was thinking about and she replied, in a serious and sad tone, "I just want to get married."  I wasn't quite sure how to respond to that one.

Our dialogue coming home the other night:

Daddy – “I can’t wait to sleep in my bed tonight”
Sydney – “I can’t wait to sleep in your bed too.”
Daddy – “No you get to sleep in your bed.”
Sydney – “But I want to sleep in your big bed.”
Daddy – “But you have your own big bed in your own big room.  Don’t you want to sleep in your bed again?”
Sydney – “No.  I want to sleep in your bed with mommy.”
Daddy – “Well, you have your own room honey.  We can talk about this when we get home.”
